Fitness Tip of the Week: Get on Track After Holiday Weekends

holiday weekends

Holiday weekends usually consist of three to four days of relaxation, amazing food and a break from our normal routine. It’s great, and it’s something we need! But after eating way too much and abandoning our workouts for a few days, it can be difficult to get back on track when our normal week begins. Try these tips to return to your routine and minimize the damage.

  • Drop the guilt: To a certain degree, guilt is good in that it can change our path or alert us that something isn’t right. But holding on to guilt won’t do you any good. So drop it! A holiday weekend helps us relax and recover from all of the busyness in our lives. You can undo or reverse a couple days’ worth of overindulging or inactivity.
  • Start sweating ASAP: Get back into the gym. Once you have a few good workouts under your belt, you’ll find yourself back on track in no time.
  • Increase your water intake: Not only should you increase your activity, but you also should increase your water intake to help flush out toxins and rebalance your system.
  • Cook your meals for the week: Try to eat at home this week instead of eating out, and prep meals for the week. If you can eat healthy for seven days, a few days of indulgence won’t interfere with your fitness goals. Soon you’ll be well on your way to an even better physique than before the holiday weekend!
